The K-State at Salina Library believes in the open exchange and learning between students and faculty, both on campus and through distance learning. The rapidly growing phenomenon of
user-generated web content—blogging, social web-applications and networking—are emerging arenas for engagement and learning.

Library activities increasingly focus on the provision of online resources. Thus, it is important for the K-State at Salina Library and its patrons to share with the world the exciting things we're
learning and doing, and to learn from others.

In 2007, the library made a strategic decision to create a blog in order to disseminate information about the library’s past, present and future activities. We continue to advocate responsible
online learning and collaboration with the introduction of the library’s new Subject Guides wiki.

The K-State at Salina Library supports open dialogue and the exchange of ideas. We regard blogs, wikis and other forms of online discussion as a form of primary communication and relationship
among individuals. Such dialogue is natural in the distribution of information. We believe that students and staff can equally provide and profit from the exchange of educational research-based information.

The K-State at Salina Library Subject Guides wiki enables individuals to share their insights, express their opinions and share information within the context of a campus-wide conversation.
While the library encourages all of its contributors to join the conversation, it is important for those who choose to do so to understand what is recommended, expected and required when they post items.
